Paul Bercier is a seasoned executive and advisor whose career spans military service, oil and gas operations, renewable energy, environmental stewardship, and Métis economic development. After working on a hydroelectric project in Northern Manitoba, Paul joined the Canadian Forces, where he served for 16 years as a Logistics Officer. Over the course of his military career, he served in units across eight provinces, as well as at Air Command Headquarters and National Defence Headquarters. His final transfer included a six-month tour in 1979 with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in the Middle East.
Following his military service, Paul joined an oil and gas production testing company, beginning as a field hand and rising to General Manager within two years. Over the next decade, the company expanded rapidly and became one of the top three firms in its field. When the company chose to pursue growth in the United States, Paul established field operations in Wyoming and a head office in Denver. Although the expansion proved successful, he chose to remain in Canada when the balance of operations moved south. In the years that followed, Paul pursued work aligned with his values and heritage, focusing on environmental initiatives and renewable energy opportunities, including solar, wind, and energy storage. He later joined the Métis Nation of Alberta as an Environment and Economic Advisor, serving in various capacities over the past 25 years. Among his notable achievements with the Nation are the acquisition of Métis Crossing, now recognized as the cultural centre of the Nation, and the acquisition of a drilling rig, which became the Nation’s first profitable venture.
Honours
Among Paul’s most valued recognitions are the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal for his service with the Canadian Forces and the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his service to the Métis Nation within Alberta.
